Frequently Asked Questions

How can psychotherapy or counselling help?

At times a person is stuck or finds himself in a situation in which patterns can adversely affect his or her life. In deciding to enter therapy, you can share your concerns with a professional person, who can skilfully listen to you in a non-judgmental way, in a safe place.

While the therapist will not advise you, together we can explore your problem. You may gain a greater understanding and clarity about how past experiences, though they may not exist in the present, still affect your life. The process will help your ability to choose differently, to express yourself and to relate to others in a more creative and fulfilling way.

What to expect at the first meeting?

The first encounter will last 50 minutes. We will discuss your problem and needs in detail.
This will be an opportunity for you to ask me more about how I work.
We will then decide whether we want to work together. If we decide to work together we will discuss how to proceed and enter into a mutual agreement, in which time, duration of therapy, frequency and method of payment will be established.

How long does therapy usually last?

There is no definite answer to this question, as it depends on the client's needs.
I work both short-term (generally 8 to 12 weeks, with a more specific focused exploration),
and long-term (indefinite duration, and a more in-depth exploration). We will decide what will be beneficial for you based on my assessment of your problem.
